California’s $13,500 Electric UTV Voucher

UTV and ATV owners in California have a unique opportunity to take advantage of a $13,500 voucher towards replacing their gas-powered vehicle with a zero-emission electric UTV like the REV 1.

Air pollution districts across the state offer this program, with the most money being awarded by the San Joaquin Valley APCD.

How does it work?

California residents in the San Joaquin Valley and around the state can receive a $13,500 voucher when replacing their gas UTVs with a REV 1.

The existing (old) UTV must be powered by a diesel or gasoline engine, and it must be operational and in-use at the time the application is submitted. The old UTV must be dismantled after receiving the new UTV.

The replacement (new) UTV must:

  • Not have been previously owned and be indicated as new by the dealer at the time of purchase.

  • Be Zero-Emission.

  • Have an hour meter installed and operational throughout the project life.

  • Operate 100% within the Air District’s boundaries

Application process

To help you secure your voucher towards purchasing a REV 1, once you reserve your REV 1 we will help you stay on top of the process. We’ll remind you as we near your delivery date, so you can submit your application within the one year window required.

In order to secure the voucher, Valley Air stipulates you must apply for and receive the voucher before dismantling your old UTV or making any non-refundable payments (note: this does not apply to your $100 reservation deposit, since it’s refundable).

Here is an outline of the application process:

  1. Applicant submits completed application packet to District staff (via mail, email, or fax), including:

    • Completed Application

    • IRS Form W-9

    • Dated and itemized dealer quote for the new equipment

    • Photos of current equipment: side view of entire vehicle & clear photo of Equipment Identification Number, Product Identification Number (PIN) or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

      • Note: if there is an engine serial number different than the VIN or PIN, a photo of the engine serial number is also required.

    • Maintenance records and/or service history for the existing UTV

  2. District notifies Applicant if the application is incomplete or ineligible.

  3. If your application is complete and eligible, District staff issues the Voucher to applicant via mail.
